School lunch can ruin or make a student’s day, well, mine at least.
Whether it’s grabbing a quick bite because you missed breakfast or just getting free meals, cafeteria food is a major part of school life. I rounded up the top 5 favorite school lunches throughout the week based on taste, health, and overall satisfaction.
#5 Cheese Pizza
Definitely the worst meal throughout the week, with the same disgusting, cheesy, microwaved taste on a terrible Monday. Most students skip out on this meal because of how bad it is. → Overall satisfaction: 3/10.
#4 Chicken Tenders
Chicken tenders have been one of the most eaten meals throughout the week, but they lack favor, and students aren’t able to get full by eating only three tenders. The tenders are yummy with ketchup, and they are really healthy and high in protein, but it’s just not enough. → Overall satisfaction: 6/10.
#3 Chicken/Fish Sandwich
This meal is pretty good, usually served on Wednesdays or Thursdays. The only bad thing about it is how dry the bread is and flavorless the chicken tastes, but the fish is really nice and flavorful. They provide good protein and it’s edible with milk. Many of students like this meal because it’s chicken. → Overall satisfaction: 6.7/10.
#2 Mozzarella Sticks and Tomato Sauce
This is definitely a fan favorite, especially with the hand made tomato sauce they provide. The mozzarella sticks have a really nice cheesy flavor, unlike the cheese pizza, and when eaten right after they’re made, there is a nice cheese pull. Most students tend to get this meal because of the cheesy flavor and the tomato sauce. → Overall satisfaction: 7.6/10
#1 BBQ Chicken Thigh and Biscuit
Definitely the most sought-after meal of the week that makes everybody’s day. The tenderness of the chicken and the flavor of the BBQ sauce make it something worth actually paying for. The chicken is super healthy and juicy, but there’s just too little of it. There are students that go back for seconds because it’s too delicious, and combined with the biscuit as a side, it tops off the meal. → Overall satisfaction: 10/10, almost to die for.
While school lunches can sometimes get mixed reviews, these meals stood out this week as student favorites. Whether students prioritize taste, portion size, or variety, cafeteria favorites continue to bring excitement to lunchtime.
