The NYC Museum School held its first pep rally on Wednesday, Nov. 8, in the auditorium. The event, a collaborative effort between the school’s student government and administration, aimed to promote the Lab Museum United fall and winter sports teams and featured a performance from the Museum’s Guitar Club, known as Mercury.
Violet Cole, the 12th Grade Representative, said, “The student government’s objective for the year is to boost student morality and school spirit, so we put this event together.”
All teams were called up to the stage with a poster, and the captain talked about their (upcoming) season. Delia Nakatani, a freshman on the Girls Varsity Tennis Team, said, “It was really fun, but honestly also nerve-racking going on stage in front of the whole school.”
Cole said, “Ms. Rivera, Mrs. Hindelong, and the wellness committee planned it. We had a few meetings and were told the structure, but we wanted to give the Student Government a bigger presence in the school.”
The Student Government is planning more school-wide events in the future, such as “a student versus teachers volleyball game in December,” Cole said.
Dalessandro Ulloa, a freshman in the audience, said, “I really enjoyed the pep rally, and I’m very excited for the next one. My favorite part was listening to the band.”
Mrs. Hindelong said, “Student Government wanted to come up with a way to close out the fall sports teams and introduce the winter season. I think it went well, especially for seventh period, and we will definitely do it again.”
