This January, the NYC Museum School class of 2025 took their first out of two senior trips to Camelback Resort with the option to go skiing or snowboarding or visit Aquatopia indoor waterpark. This trip was designed to allow students to bond with their peers in an engaging, off-campus setting, fostering fun and interactive experiences.
While students were disappointed with the decision not to have an overnight senior trip this year, they still enjoyed the day. Senior Jack Robles, who opted to go skiing, said that if they had an overnight trip, “they would have been able to experience it even more… but it was still really fun.”
Students arrived at school early to board a coach bus to begin their day of adventure. Upon arrival, those who chose to ski or snowboard acquired their equipment before they were able to hit the slopes. Camelback Mountain has a total of 39 ski trails of varying difficulties, which allows students of all skill levels to find their pace and have an amazing time on the mountain. The trip to Camelback Mountain “was an overall fun experience for all,” said senior Ray Zhang.

At Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark, students reported having a great time as well. Seniors who chose this option boarded the same coach bus as the ski trip participants and were off to Camelback Resort. The students were then free to go off in groups and experience the different slides and rides that the waterpark had to offer. Mr. Roukis, a chaperone on the trip, was enthusiastic about the experience saying, “The facility at Camelback is a nice location” and “everybody seemed to have a good time.”
To conclude the day, all the seniors met up to go snow tubing. This allowed the students who went on the different trips to all come together and experience one fun event as an entire class.
Overall, the students had a great time on the Senior trip, hanging out with their friends at fun and exciting places. If the overnight trip returns next year, it will give students even more opportunities to make lasting memories and have an even better experience. Junior Keiran Campbell said that he is “looking forward to senior activities next year and hoping for an overnight trip.”
