A Letter From the Editors

For the first time in its recent history, New York City Museum School has a newspaper– an outlet for our community’s opinions and concerns. In this inaugural issue, we would like to share our vision for the future, and what the existence of our school newspaper means to us.

Through this newspaper, our goal is to bring important issues to light, issues that before could only be communicated through word of mouth. In writing, we can take more care with these topics– bringing out all of their complexities and nuances. The written page will not be the final word, however; each article will include a comments section that will allow our community to engage with and provide further commentary on subjects of interest. This newspaper belongs to all of us, and we hope that the diversity inherent in our community will be to our benefit, featuring student journalists who bring a wide range of interests and perspectives.

A lot of hard work has gone into establishing this newspaper and publishing our first issue. We want to thank our writers, editors, layout editor, and publicity team for the incredible job they’ve done. We especially want to thank Ms. DeStefano, who has provided not only a huge amount of knowledge and support, but also many hours of hard work to make this first issue possible.  Congratulations to all of our team for this huge accomplishment; and to our readers, we hope you enjoy our first issue!
